'THE NEW VIDEO AQUARIUM" there are two Fish-Filled aquariums.
The first is: THE MARINE AQUARIUM
The above photo doesn't show all the
fish in the aquarium so we've illustrated and named them to the
When you view the DVD you'll see that
the PADDLEFIN WRASSE (not shown above) is always swimming at the top of
the tank. There are two aquatic creatures in this tank who seem to be
camera shy. The first is the PORCUPINE PUFFER who prefers swimming
up and down out-of-sight on the right side of the screen, coming into view
now and then. The SNOWFLAKE EEL can be seen peeking out behind the
pink shell above on the left of the screen. The EEL makes one trip across
the aquarium. All the other colorful and exotic fish are constantly
swimming in and out of view.
The HUMA TRIGGER fish (seen above at
the bottom center) is an Hawaiian fish immortalized
in song by the late singer, Don Ho himself. In Hawaii the fish has a much longer
name: HUMUHUMU NUKUNUKU APUA'A, which means in Hawaiian "water pig
with a needle" referring to the grunting noise
they make and their spiny dorsal "trigger." It is also known as
the PICASSO TRIGGER, obviously for it's beautiful and unusual art like
People have asked if this is a
"real aquarium." Of course it
is. It's not an animated screen saver that repeats every few minutes.
It's whatever happened in one hour in the real aquarium in the Pilot's Lounge of AirFlite, an aviation service
corporation located at the Long Beach Airport, Long Beach, California. It
was designed, installed and is maintained by Phil Lam of Aqua Design
in Mission Viejo, CA.
The second aquarium is: THE LIVING REEF
GREEN STRIPED CORAL
ROSE ANEMONE CORAL
RED/GREEN BRAIN CORAL
MUSHROOM LEATHER CORAL
The above photo features the
living corals one might find when scuba diving deep in the ocean. Again
not all the fish are out front so we've illustrated and named them
to the left.
Coral is a
substance that is formed by the skeletons of tiny sea animals called
polyps. Most coral polyps live together in colonies. They attach
themselves to each other with a flat sheet of tissue. Coral polyps remove
calcium out of the sea water to build their limestone skeletons.
When the animals die, they leave their limestone "skeletons"
which become the foundations of barriers and ridges called coral
reefs. Live, healthy
coral is often brightly colored. Large coral groups form rounded or
branching masses. A strip or ridge of solidified coral at or near an ocean
surface is called a coral reef.
This LIVING REEF
aquarium was the pride of the Shaffer family in Irvine, CA. It also was
designed, installed and maintained by Phil Lam of Aqua Design in Mission

That's our first "Video Aquarium" that he watches towards
the end of the film. His buddy in the movie, actor CHARLES
GRODIN was watching our "Original Video Fireplace" earlier
in the film. To our dismay, the fireplace was cut although there is
still a reference to "putting on the fireplace."
